Meet the PharPoint Team: Sophia D., Principal Data Manager

Meet Sophia D., one of PharPoint’s Principal Data Managers. With a strong background in data management and a passion for both her work and family, Sophia has become a key part of the PharPoint team.

As a Principal Data Manager, Sophia leads data management aspects of clinical trials, collaborating with sponsors to ensure accurate, monitored, and clean data throughout each study. “I love that every study and client bring new challenges. No matter how much you think you know, there’s always more to learn,” she shares.

Sophia began her career at a larger CRO. After a few years, she realized the company’s size left her feeling overlooked. She sought a smaller environment with a stronger work-life balance, which led her to PharPoint. “PharPoint has been a breath of fresh air,” she says. It’s a small, tight-knit community where no one is left behind. Management is accessible, and we’re all on the same playing field.”

Outside of PharPoint, Sophia stays busy. She’s a mom, a dog and cat parent, and a part-time rancher. On her ranch, she cares for ten horses and three donkeys, even rehabilitating off-the-track Thoroughbreds and giving them a “retirement” home after racing. While a 2020 back injury has paused her competitive equestrian activities, she still enjoys time with her horses. One fun fact about Sophia is that she was once a competitive equestrian! Starting in elementary school, she spent years training and competing, and her first horse, Mecca, is still with her today!

Sophia values PharPoint’s emphasis on work-life balance and flexible scheduling. “PharPoint is flexible with schedules. Many of us have families, pets, and other responsibilities outside of work. We’re able to live full lives and still get our work done,” she explains. She also appreciates the transparent management style, saying, “Everyone is transparent here. You never feel like you’re left guessing about your career path or upcoming projects. I also love that our input is valued. I can make suggestions that influence company-wide policies, even though I’m not technically in a managerial role.”

Sophia’s career has taught her that you can never know everything. “Each client and each study is different,” she notes. “There’s always a new challenge to overcome, and that’s what keeps things exciting.”
