When describing herself in just a few words, Maegan F. confidently chose “dedicated” and “passionate.” These qualities shine through in her competitive drive and her commitment to excelling in everything she undertakes. As a Statistical Programmer II (SP II), Maegan collaborates with lead programmers and biostatisticians to produce the tables, figures, and listings requested by clients. She also ensures that raw data received from vendors or PharPoint’s data management team is standardized to meet regulatory requirements.
Maegan’s journey to PharPoint was anything but conventional. For 11 years, she taught high school math, covering subjects from special education math to AP Calculus, and even worked as a curriculum developer. In 2020, she decided to reimagine her career path and began pursuing a master’s degree in statistics. “In 2020, whenever we all had time to go home and sit, I thought, ‘Maybe I want to try something different than teaching,’” she shared. During graduate school, Maegan discovered her passion for clinical trial data in a SAS programming class. “I found it super fascinating, so I took my base SAS certification and applied for an internship here at PharPoint,” Maegan explained. After completing her internship, she seamlessly transitioned into her current role.
Reflecting on her time at PharPoint, Maegan highlights the company’s culture as a standout feature. She appreciates the camaraderie within her team and the sense of community fostered through departmental outings and company events. “The culture here is amazing. As a department, we try to do something fun at least once a month—whether it’s Top Golf, a Hurricanes game, or a Krispy Kreme challenge,” she shared with a laugh. She also values the professional development opportunities, such as the “Statistics in the Pharmaceutical Industry” sessions, which equip her with knowledge to better serve clients.
Maegan finds meaning in the impact of her work. “Everything that we do here truly plays a role in helping to get the drugs or therapeutic devices passed in order to help people.” This aligns perfectly with her lifelong desire to help others, a value that guided her teaching career and continues to inspire her work today. “Helping people has always been something I try to do, whether it’s through teaching or now working on clinical trials. It’s rewarding to know what we do can make a real difference.”
Outside of work, Maegan stays active through hobbies like pickleball and cooking, even taking classes to enhance her culinary skills. As a former volleyball coach, she continues to embrace her competitive spirit while focusing on family and friends, cherishing time spent with loved ones. She is particularly excited about graduating in December and having more time to dedicate to her personal passions.
