For this month’s Meet the Team feature, we chatted with PharPoint’s Statistical Programming Manager Joseph S to learn more about his role, his career, and what he’s most excited about.
Q: What’s your role and what are you responsible for?
A: I’m a manager of statistical programming. I’m responsible for leading statistical programming for studies and managing my direct reports. I make sure studies hit their programming milestones and that deliverables are accurate and on-time.
Q: What has your career path looked like?
A: I did my undergraduate in chemistry at University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and then earned my masters in data science. While getting my masters, I was looking for a summer internship, and a classmate pointed me to PharPoint. I got an internship here, and after graduation, I started full-time at PowerPoint and I’ve been here since. It’s been five years now.
Q: What would you say is your favorite thing about working at PharPoint?
A: You’re really able to know the people you’re working with. It’s nice. For instance, PharPoint’s co-founder, Jenna, works in our Wilmington office. You know the people leading the company are here working alongside you. You can make connections with people who are driving the company forward.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
A: Helping other people grow in in their role in the company is so rewarding.
Q: What are you excited about right now?
A: I’m on a club Ultimate Frisbee team called FlyTrap. We finished 3rd in the state in sectionals this past weekend and are heading to regionals in a couple weeks, which encompasses the southeast. My girlfriend and I also co-captained an adult league frisbee team this summer for cape fear ultimate and won first place in the end of season tournament! Ultimate frisbee is my main passion outside of work – work, Frisbee, and being with my girlfriend and dog keep me busy!
