Meet Madison B: a world traveler, an avid runner, and – in her position at PharPoint Research – a Data Manager that plays a vital role in things like leading data review, anomaly investigation, and the crafting of essential trial documents.
As a dedicated teammate with a passion for her work in clinical research, Madison’s early career began as a data management intern in PharPoint’s Intern Success Program following her graduation from Appalachian State University. After her internship, she was brought onto the data management team full time as a Clinical Data Associate and was later promoted into her current role of Data Manager.
“PharPoint offers so much opportunity,” Madison shares of the benefits of working at the company. “You’re not boxed into one specific role. You can spread your wings,” she explains.
She praises her department’s hands-on approach and the collaborative spirit that encourages learning and growth.
As a Data Manager, Madison’s day-to-day involves tasks like investigating data anomalies, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and preparing documents such as Data Transfer Agreements (DTA) and CRF Completion Guidelines (CCGs).
One of Madison’s latest achievements in her role was having supported a clinical trial from study start all the way through to a recent successful database lock. Madison worked closely with her client, her data management teammates, and cross-functional study team members to support the management of the trial’s data needs throughout its lifecycle.
Clinical trials are long, complex processes with many moving parts, and to support a study from kick off until the final data management deliverable is achieved is always a reason to celebrate. “So many people had their hands on it,” she says. “It’s incredible to see it all come together.”
Madison shared that one of the best skillsets to have and develop in a clinical research career is excellent communication.
“It’s better to over-communicate than under-communicate,” she explains, especially in a remote work environment. She emphasizes the value of asking questions and seeking clarity, as it fosters deeper understanding and growth.
When asked about her favorite thing at PharPoint, Madison quickly mentions the work-life balance and the community. “The team is awesome, and the remote work allows flexibility,” she says.
Madison is an avid traveler and runner, both passions she’s able to pursue alongside her work. Whether it’s a lunchtime run with her dog Milo or planning trips to Iceland and Ecuador, PharPoint’s culture allows her to balance her personal interests with her professional responsibilities.
Madison is looking forward to her next adventures, both at work and beyond. In the future, she hopes to continue learning and contributing to clinical research.
“At the end of the day, knowing that I’m part of something that helps make drugs safer and more effective keeps me going. It’s rewarding work.”
