Passionate, analytical, and personable—these are the three words Nate V. uses to describe himself. These qualities are crucial to his role here at PharPoint Research, where he ensures company policy compliance, manages employee relations, and navigates the complexities of employment law.
Nate’s HR journey began in the military, where he was deployed to Iraq in 2012. During his time there, he was responsible for tracking soldier movement, headcounts, and strength reporting. Later, he was stationed in South Carolina before ultimately settling in Raleigh, drawn by weekends spent in the area.
One of the biggest lessons Nate has learned in the HR field is the importance of adaptability. “Things can change, and they can change fairly quickly. You have to stay nimble and be able to react while still maintaining compliance,” he explains. While that can be challenging, Nate credits PharPoint’s employees for making it easier. “People here are willing—if you give them a reason for something or explain compliance requirements, they understand. There’s not a lot of bureaucracy.”
When asked about his favorite part of working at PharPoint, Nate points to the company’s leadership and flexibility. “The company goes above and beyond to support employees. It’s a really good organization, and that can be hard to find. I genuinely enjoy working with everyone here, from the leadership team to my colleagues. The job is always the job, but when you have great people around you, it makes getting up and going to work something to look forward to.”
PharPoint’s flexibility was particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I was really proud of how the company handled it. We were an on-site organization at the start, but leadership listened to employees, assessed the situation, and transitioned into a hybrid model. The process was smooth because of the company’s willingness to adapt.”
Looking ahead, Nate is eager to implement improvements to PharPoint’s HR systems. “Enhancing our systems to better support employees is something I’m excited about. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy system implementations. Some people think I’m crazy for that, but I really like that part of the job.” His commitment to continuous improvement drives him daily. “There aren’t always big, flashy wins, but small victories—anytime I can improve efficiency—those matter.”
When discussing the most valued benefits at PharPoint, many employees highlight the work-life balance, and Nate agrees. Outside of work, he spends time creating hip-hop music with his son. “My strength is writing the lyrics,” he shares.
Reflecting on his career, Nate finds the most rewarding part of his role is being a trusted resource for employees. “Helping people and building trust over time—so they feel comfortable coming to me with issues and knowing I’ll do my best to help—that’s what I find most fulfilling.”
